Legal Studies Excursion

On Friday the 26th of October the Year 11 Legal Studies class had an excursion to the County Court in the city. The girls had the opportunity to visit the court room and sit across from a judge who gave them an insight into how the courts work, explaining what the role of a judge is and the purpose of a jury. Judge Allen was kind enough to answer any questions the girls had regarding the court. The Year 11 students had the privilege to recreate a real-life civil case, which involved six random jurors. The students participated in a role play, where they were given a specific role when entering and exiting the court room, they had to walk silently through the door, face the judge and bow, students followed instructions efficiently and did a terrific job throughout their visit to the courts. The Year 11 girls also had the chance to watch a case thoroughly where they observed how the court room system works. They also learnt how each person in the court room has a role and duty that they need to follow and how they must abide the regulations of the court room. The students had a productive day and enjoyed the excursion to the County Court.
